LONDON, March 1 (KUNA) -- A Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon operating from Qatar as part of the UK-Qatar Typhoon Squadron, successfully took out an Iranian drone heading towards Qatari territory, the Ministry of Defense said Sunday.
In a statement on X, the ministry said the Typhoon jet was "conducting a defensive air patrol and used an air-to-air missile to shoot down the drone, ensuring the security of Qatarآ’s airspace and British interests in the region."
"Our Armed Forces are playing a vital role to protect our people, our interest, and our Allies," the statement affirmed.
In a previous address, Prime Minister Keir Starmer affirmed that the UK was not part of the US-Israeli occupationآ’s attack on Iran, but affirmed that British planes were in the region for defensive purposes. (end)
