Acting Finance Minister and UK Trade Commissioner discuss ways to strengthen relations
KUWAIT, Dec 14 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Acting Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Sabeeh Al-Mukhaizeem on Sunday held talks with the United Kingdom's Trade Commissioner to Kuwait.
The minister's discussions with Lord Iain McNicol dealt with ways to enhance bilateral relations within the framework of the historic and strategic partnership that unites the two countries.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Finance said the meeting included an exchange of views on a number of economic and investment issues of mutual interest and ways to develop them during the coming phase.
The ministry added that the discussions also reviewed strategic and development efforts and plans in both countries, as well as the potential contribution of each side to supporting and implementing these plans in line with available capabilities, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both parties.
The statement noted that views were also exchanged on opportunities for cooperation in several vital sectors, including investment, sustainable energy, information technology, and the transport sector. The meeting further addressed current priorities and projects, along with prospects for future cooperation in these areas.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the UK and Northern Ireland to Kuwait, Qudsi Rasheed and a number of officials from the Ministry of Finance and the British Embassy in Kuwait. (end)
