KUWAIT, Feb 17 (KUNA) -- A team from Infectious Diseases Hospital took samples from inmates at the Central Prison after two prisoners were diagnosed with meningitis, and initial tests showed all detainees were in good health, Minister of Health said Saturday.
Sheikh Dr. Bassel Al-Sabah said in a statement doctors took samples from all 47 inmates as part of the ministry's keenness to prevent spread of viral meningitis, which appeared on two prisoners.
Al-Sabah confirmed initial tests by the medical team showed all inmates were fine and there was no sign they were infected with meningitis.
As to the two infectees, Al-Sabah said one of the inmates was stable and the other did not have any signs yet "but he was under observation in the hospital just in case of any development." (end)
