Russian FM to visit Gulf in Sept.

MOSCOW, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is set to pay a tour of the Arabian Gulf region next September, Russia's Sputnik news agency reported on Saturday.
Lavrov's tour is part of ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis between Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt on the one hand and Qatar on the other hand, the agency quoted sources of the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying.
However, the Russian news agency failed to mention when Lavrov's tour will begin exactly, or the countries he will visit.
Russia had repeatedly announced its support to mediation efforts exerted by the State of Kuwait to resolve the Gulf crisis.
In this context, Lavrov is expected to hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shukry in Moscow on Monday. (end) as.mt
