(with photos) SHARJAH, UAE, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- Visitors to the ground of Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBK) have shown particular interest in publications displayed by Kuwait Ministry of Information, according to KMI officials taking part in the cultural event.
Mohammed Al-Dosari, in charge of the pavilion of the Kuwaiti ministry at the annual fair, said in remarks to KUNA that the SIBK has been "developing year after another, thus contributing to enrichment of culture in the states of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab world.
"Participation in such events also contribute in cementing further the solid ties between Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates and Sharjah, in particular, and constitutes an ideal opportunity for interaction with the literati in the Emirate of Sharjah and other media institutions in the UAE." Readers in the Gulf region in general, and the UAE in particular, have shown interest in possessing pioneering Kuwaiti publications, namely Al-Arabi magazine, issues of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters and Alam Al-Maarefa (world of knowledge) series, he added.
The exhibition, which got underway on November 7, is scheduled to end on the 17th of the month.
Eid Al-Duwaikh, supervisor of publications in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information, affirmed that the ministry with its participation in the event aimed at promoting the national publications, also noting participation of many visitors, promoters and publishers from Arab and foreign countries.
The Ministry of Information has granted publications for free to officials of the UAE and individuals who showed great interest in possessing them.
Some Arab readers have shown interest in inquiring about the political system in Kuwait, domestic political issues, the country's history, thinkers and writers. (end) hny.rk KUNA 100913 Nov 12NNNN
