Communications Minister: Kuwait hosting digital cooperation assembly marks key milestone
KUWAIT, Jan 29 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Communication Affairs, Omar Al-Omar, said Kuwait's hosting of the fifth general assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization next Wednesday represents a prominent international milestone reflecting global confidence in Kuwait's advanced digital role.
He said the event underscores the international community's trust in Kuwait's continued support for digital economy pathways and its effective contribution to shaping digital policies and directions at regional and international levels.
In a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday, Al-Omar added that the General Assembly's proceedings reflect Kuwait's approach during its current presidency of the organization toward supporting international cooperation in digital fields.
He explained that this includes enhancing coordination on issues related to artificial intelligence governance, digital trade, and building more inclusive and sustainable digital economies.
Al-Omar noted that the two-day assembly will witness the participation of 16 ministers of communications, information technology, and digital economy from member states, alongside senior government and international officials.
He said the assembly also serves as a key platform for reviewing the organization's progress, highlighting its achievements, and discussing strategic directions for the upcoming phase, including the launch of qualitative initiatives.
These initiatives aim to strengthen cooperation and partnerships within the rapidly evolving digital sector at regional and international levels.
Kuwait will concurrently be hosting the second International Digital Cooperation Forum under the theme "Inclusive Prosperity in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," bringing together policymakers, innovators, and international experts.
Al-Omar stated that the forum will expand partnership horizons and explore opportunities to enhance global digital cooperation amid rapid technological developments.
He welcomed all participating delegations, expressing hope that the meetings will strengthen joint action, exchange expertise, and produce practical visions.
The Digital Cooperation Organization, established in 2020, enables digital prosperity worldwide, focusing on accelerating the development of an inclusive and sustainable digital economy. (end) fh.ht.aai
