ALGIERS, Dec 23 (KUNA) -- Built in 1821, Villa Boulkine, also called Dar Errais, located in Hussein Dey, is a distinctive Algerian landmark, showcasing Ottoman architecture blended with local influences, and representing an important historical period in Algeria's cultural past.
It illustrates a long journey of transformation and renewal, aligned with contemporary cultural visions that reinforce national identity and artistic value.
Following Algeria's independence from France, Villa Boulkine was classified in 1968 as a cultural heritage site, after extensive restoration works completed in June 2023. It was repurposed as the headquarters of the Grand African Museum, dedicated to celebrating and preserving Africa's diverse cultures. (end)
