TUNIS, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) called Saturday exerting efforts to find a just and peaceful solution for the Palestinian people, based on agreed international terms of reference, leading to the end of the occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
In a statement issued on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, ALECSO said that such solidarity is a moral and humanitarian obligation, and that commemorating this occasion represents a renewed call to strengthen dialogue, prioritize the rule of law, and unify efforts to alleviate human suffering and support the path to peace and development in the region.
ALECSO affirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and reiterated its firm positions calling for respect for international law and relevant UN resolutions on the Palestinian question.
The organization also called on the international community to continue its efforts to provide a safe environment that enables Palestinians to exercise their fundamental rights, foremost among them the right to live in dignity, the right to education, and the right to self-determination.
ALECSO also stressed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and supporting international initiatives aimed at de-escalation and opening prospects for a just, lasting, and peaceful solution.
The organization expressed deep concern over the continued ground tensions in Palestine, and the accompanying violations affecting civilians and infrastructure, including educational and cultural institutions, which undermine the foundations of development and endanger the safety of the population.
