GAZA, Sept 23 (KUNA) -- At least 38 Palestinians were martyred and 190 others injured due to ongoing Israeli occupation attacks targeting civilians across Gaza Strip, amid dire warnings from hospitals over an impending fuel crisis.
According to the daily health report, the total death toll since October 7, 2023, has reached 65,382 martyrs, with 166,985 others injured in varying degrees.
Health authorities reported that three were killed and 15 injured within the last 24 hours as Israeli occupation forces targeted individuals seeking humanitarian aid. These casualties raised the total number of victims pursuing "livelihood aid" to 2,526 martyrs and over 18,511 injuries.
In a related development, the Ministry of Health warned that hospitals may fully cease operations in coming days due to an acute shortage of fuel, placing thousands of patients and wounded individuals at serious risk.
A statement from the ministry said the fuel crisis has entered a critical phase, with essential hospital departments nearing shutdown. It added that technical and engineering procedures to ration fuel are no longer viable under complete supply interruption.
The ministry reiterated its urgent appeal to relevant authorities and international organizations for immediate intervention to replenish fuel stocks and avert an impending humanitarian catastrophe.
It further stated that systematic attacks on the healthcare system, including the forced closure of hospitals, constitute a "humanitarian crime" against patients and the wounded, depriving them of their internationally guaranteed right to treatment.
Eyewitnesses told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that Israeli occupation forces advanced toward Al-Nasr neighborhood and approached Al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza, amid simultaneous strikes on multiple fronts from the south, east, and north. (end)
