KUWAIT, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Sporting Club topped Saturday the 34th Arab Club Basketball Championship for the first time following a 78-77 final score against Egypt's Al-Ahly SC.
Ensuing a heated 48-minutes of play, Kuwait SC was able to pummel former champions, Al-Ahly SC in the final seconds, routing their way to the title.
President of the Kuwaiti Basketball Association Rasheed Al-Enzi, congratulated Kuwait SC's team, staff, and fans for honing in on this tournament that was intricate with 16 of the best Arab Clubs, while also appreciating the display of performances throughout the competition which was held in Kuwait at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah Sports Hall.
He also mentioned this achievement demonstrates progress in the sport of basketball in Kuwait, thanking the organizing committee by Kuwait SC for holding the 11 daylong event of 40 matches.
The match for third position between Beirut Club (Lebanon) and Kazma SC (Kuwait) was coped with a finale score of 102-97 for Beirut following overtime, with both teams ending their streak with a great performance. (end) fsa.tb.aq
