BEIJING, March 2 (KUNA) -- China announced Monday the evacuation of more than 3,000 Chinese citizens from Iran following joint US-Israeli military strikes, deploying embassy and consulate teams to border crossings to provide assistance.
One Chinese citizen was reported killed amid the ongoing military conflict in Tehran, highlighting the risks to nationals during escalating regional tensions, while authorities coordinated efforts to ensure safe passage and support for all evacuees.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning urged all parties to immediately halt military actions, avoid escalation, and contain negative effects on the global economy, emphasizing diplomatic restraint amid the crisis.
Mao also stressed the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters for international trade, noting that maintaining security and stability in the area serves the shared interests of the international community. (end)
