KUWAIT, April 4 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced Saturday the first death case of novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, while 62 fresh cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
This brings the country's tally of confirmed virus cases up to 479, the ministry's spokesman Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad told KUNA.
Earlier in the day, Kuwaiti Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah announced the recovery of 11 people from the novel coronavirus, raising the country's total recoveries to 93.

The first Covid-19 victim in Kuwait is an Indian expat, 46, who succumbed to the illness at an ICU where he received treatment for several days, Dr. Al-Sanad noted, expressing condolences to the victim's family.
Thirty-seven of the 62 new cases are identified as community transmission cases among expatriates; these include 33 Indian nationals and four Egyptians, he pointed out.
Twenty-five persons are put under syndromic surveillance for suspicion of contracting Covid-19; these include 17 Indians, four Bangladeshis, two Egyptians, a Pakistani and an Iranian.
The new figures brought to 479 the total number of infections in Kuwait, Dr. Al-Sanad.
After the 93 recoveries and the first victim, there are 385 patients, who receive treatment at the hospitals of the Ministry of Health; 17 of them are treated at ICUs, 11 are in stable condition and six in critical condition, Al-Sanad revealed.
He reminded the citizens and expatriates of the need to stay indoors and keep social distancing at all times, not only during the partial curfew. (end) mak.amh.gb
