DOHA, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Qatar will be celebrating its national day tomorrow, Tuesday, December 18. The national occasion was preceded by ten days of celebrations held in various districts of the country.
Qatari decree 11/2007 was issued to announce that December 18 will be celebrated as the country's national day.
On December 18, 1878, Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammad Al-Thani, the founder of Qatar, succeeded his father Sheikh Muhammad bin Al-Thani. He led the country towards unity and development.
This year's theme will focus on the Qatari people's ambitious national vision 2030.
The Qatari government is currently embarking on its second phase of the development vision set between 2017-2022.
This strategy aims at boosting development on various spheres including economy, education, training of human resources, and more.
On the oil and natural gas domain, Qatar managed to produce in 2017 around 1.7 billion of barrel of oil equivalent (BOE) with 7.3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, 210 million barrels of condensers, and 232 million barrels of oil.
The Qatari oil excavations, both locally and internationally, have been flourishing with discoveries announced in the country and abroad.
Qatar had made jumps in developing the healthcare sector, devising a 2018-2022 plan to further improve public health services in the country.
Perhaps the most awaited event, which surely will garner global attention would be the 2022 FIFA World Cup held for the first time on Qatari soil and marking an achievement for GCC, Arab, and Asian Football.
The Gulf country will use this year's celebration to highlight developments achieved in the cultural, food security, and tourism sectors. (end) nnd.gta
