HIS HIGHNESS THE AMIR: ====================== January 23 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended the Popular Heritage Festival.
January 29 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, marking his seventh anniversary in office, attended the flag raising ceremony in Bayan Palace, with the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and prominent figures.
January 29 -- His Highness the Amir received United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince.
January 30 -- His Highness the Amir opened the International Donors Conference for Syria with the participation of representatives of 59 countries. His Highness the Amir, in his opening speech, praised the efforts of Secretary General Ban for calling on the international community to hold the conference due to the worsening humanitarian conditions of the Syrian people as result of the violent conflict. His Highness Sheikh Sabah announced a donation of USD 300 millions to the Syrian people.
February 4 -- His Highness the Amir sponsored and attended the opening of Sabah Al-Ahmad Urology Center.
February 25 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah gave a speech on the occasion of the 52nd National Day and the 22nd Liberation Day.
March 11 -- His Highness the Amir opened the 7th conference of heads of diplomatic missions.
April 2 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended the national operetta "Kuwait Amana." April 8 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sponsored and attended the opening ceremony for Al-Othman House Museum.
May 26 -- Faisal Bandar Al-Duweesh held a luncheon in the honor of His Highness the Amir.
May 27 -- Falah Bin Jame held a dinner banquet in the honor of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
June 4 -- Meslet Zaben Al-Hathal held a luncheon in honor of His Highness the Amir.
June 10 -- Mohammad Mufarrej Al-Musaileem held a dinner banquet in honor of His Highness the Amir.
June 16 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah addressed the Kuwaiti people after the constitutional courts ruling, saying that this was a historic verdict which showed that Kuwait was a state of institutions ruled by the constitution and law, and "there is neither authority nor ceiling above the authority of what is right and justice." June 26 -- His Highness the Amir left to Qatar to congratulate Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa upon his assumption of office.
July 22 -- His Highness the Amir visited Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, and Kuwait Blind Association accompanied by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Deputy Chief of National Guard. His Highness the Amir also visited police and army officers clubs and the national guards as part of his Ramadhan tour.
July 28 -- His Highness the Amir accepted the resignation of His Highness the Prime Minister.
July 29 -- His Highness the Amir signed an Amiri order to appoint His Highness Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister, and assigned him to form a new government.
July 30 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, during his speech on the occasion of the last 10 days of Ramadhan, announced an amnesty for those convicted of defaming his status as Amir. His Highness the Amir said in his speech that Kuwait was heading toward a new phase through the parliament's new legislative term, and the country will witness a promising horizons of progress, development and serious work for diversification of income, follow-up on execution of development plans, execution of vital ventures, through the aspired "fruitful and constructive" cooperation between the executive and legislative authorities.

Sheikh Dhari Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah attended the ceremony on behalf of his Highness the Crown Prince.
February 21 -- The State of Kuwait celebrated the seventh anniversary of His Highness the Crown Prince sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's assumption of office.
April 22 -- His Highness Sheikh Nawaf patronized and attended the annual graduation ceremony of Kuwait University (KU) for academic year 2011-12.
April 22 -- His Highness the Crown Prince met with Falah bin Jame and Al-Awazem charity chairman Dr. Rasheed Abdulhadi Al-Houri and members of the charity.
September 4 -- His Highness Sheikh Nawaf met with participants in the 25th traditional pearl diving expedition.
November 2 -- His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah patronized the annual Crown Prince grand shooting tournament, organized by Kuwait Shooting Federation. Governor of Hawally Abdullah Al-Fares represented His Highness the Crown Prince at the event.
November 23 -- Kuwait camel race club held a contest under the auspices of His Highness the Crown Prince, who was represented by Hawally Governor Abdullah Al-Fares.
December 4 -- His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah represented His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at Kuwait Foundation for Advancement of Sciences' (KFAS) awards ceremony.
December 8 -- His Highness the Crown Prince patronized the family dialogue conference, organized by the Kuwaiti Society for the Ideal Family. Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Thikra Al-Rashidi represented His Highness Sheikh Nawaf.
HIS HIGHNESS THE PRIME MINISTER: ================================ February 9 -- Under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Arab Blind Forum was held at the Kuwait Blind Association.
May 27 -- His Highness the Prime Minister approved the resignation of oil minister Hani Hussein. Mustafa Al-Shimali was appointed as acting oil minister.
June 12 -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived to Baghdad, capital of Iraq, on an official visit.
June 16 -- The Cabinet held an extraordinary meeting, chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister, following the Constitutional Court's ruling regarding a law suit filed by some citizens on the electoral law.
June 20 -- The Cabinet held an extraordinary meeting under His Highness the Prime Minister's chairmanship. Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah called for new elections for the National Assembly on July 27, 2013.
June 22 -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah patronized and attended the opening of a multi-purpose hall for the deaf at Kuwait sport club for the deaf.
September 2 -- State Minister for Cabinet Affairs and Health Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah announced that Faisal Al-Sarawi was appointed as adviser at the Diwan of His Highness the Prime Minister.
September 22 -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah addressed students in all grades, their parents and teachers, at the start of the new academic year.
September 25 -- Representing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister addressed the UN General Assembly.
November 7 -- His highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived in India for an official visit, part of a tour that also included Pakistan.
November 10 -- His Highness the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation arrived on a two-day visit to Pakistan.
November 11 -- During His Highness the Prime Minister's visit to Pakistan, Kuwait and Islamabad signed cooperation agreements in the areas of extradition, drug control, visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports, as well as joint investment.
December 8 -- His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received the head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Ahmad Al-Asi Al-Jarba.
NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: ================== January 23 -- The National Assembly approved the public companies' law.
February 20 -- The parliament approved a report by the Financial and Economic Committee regarding the establishment of a fund to support small and medium size enterprises.
June 16 -- The Constitutional Court rejected a law suit contesting the one-vote, one-person decree and ruled dissolve of the 2012 parliament.
June 26 -- The government approved a decree to call for parliamentary elections on July 27. Up to 395 candidates ran for the elections.
July 27 -- elections were held and two women Dr. Maasouma Al-Mubarak and Safa Al-Hashem won.
July 28 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called on the parliament to convene on August 6.
August 6 -- MP Marzouq Al-Ghanim was elected as Speaker.
September 28 -- Palriament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim visited Jordan to show solidarity in the face of regional developments.

 -- October 1 -- Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim accompanied by an official delegation visited Turkey where he met Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations.
October 5 -- Speaker Al-Ghanim arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meetings.
October 29 -- Speaker Al-Ghanim opened the first session of the parliament of the second regular term of the 14th legislative session.
October 31 -- MP Riyadh Al-Adsani submitted an interpellation of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah regarding the housing problem and corruption.
November 10 -- MP Dr. Khalil Abdullah submitted a request to grill Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and Minister of State for Planning Dr. Rola Dashti.
November 12 -- MP Hussein Quwaiaan submitted an interpellation request for Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Following the grilling, 10 lawmakers submitted a no-confidence motion.
November 13 -- MP Riyadh Al-Adsani submitted another interpellation against His Highness the Prime Minister, and Minister of State for Housing Affairs Salem Al-Athaina over the failure of the government policy.
November 14 -- MP Safa Al-Hashem submitted two interpellations against His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs and Minister of State for Planning Dr. Rola Dashti.
November 18 -- MPs Abdullah Al-Tamimi and Faisal Al-Duwaisan submitted a request to grill Minister Al-Athaina.
November 26 -- The Parliament agreed to discuss five interpellations and postponed a sixth. In the same session the house renewed the confidence in Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Minister of Health Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Mubarak Al-Sabah.
November 28 -- MP Hamdan Al-Azmi submitted a grilling request against Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr. Thikra Al-Rashidi.
December 1 -- The Leglsiative and Legal Committee lifted immunity of Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim over a law suit.
December 12 -- The parliament approved a series of recommendations to address the housing problem. FOREIGN POLICY: =============== January 26 -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Chile Reem Mohammad Al-Khaled presented her credentials to the Ecuadorian Vice-President Lenin Moreno as a non-resident Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
February 12 -- Kuwait and Sudan signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Diplomatic Relations.
March 11 -- Kuwait and Russia celebrated the Golden Jubilee of their diplomatic relations, established in March, 1963.
April 9 -- The 19th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) Conference kicked off under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, with the participation of Arab member states.
May 5 -- A bilateral agreement on forming a permanent committee was signed between Kuwait's government and Tanzania.
May 28 -- Two memoranda of understanding were signed between Kuwait and Iraq on maintenance of border signs and financing a project of constructing a residential complex in Umm Qasr.
June 9 -- Kuwait signed two agreements with Burundi to establish a higher committee for political consultations between the foreign ministries.
June 12 -- Kuwait and Iraq signed six agreements and MoUs on politics, transportations, culture, higher education, diplomacy and the environment.
June 16 -- The Second Annual Arab Diplomats Training Course started, organized by Kuwait Foreign Ministry in cooperation with the United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Center for South West Asia and Arab Region.
June 18 -- Kuwait's Ambassador to the Republic of Albania Najeeb Abdulrahman Al-Bader presented his credentials to President of Kosovo as the first non-resident Ambassador in Pristina.
June 19 -- the seventh session of the joint higher committee between the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Morocco kicked off. The two sides signed five agreements and MoUs in the field of exhibitions, an additional protocol to the Convention on mutual assistance and cooperation in custom affairs, MoU for cooperation between the Foreign Ministries, an executive program for tourism for the years 2013-15 and executive program in the field of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs for the years 2013-15.
June 23, Kuwait and Tajikistan signed a number of agreements in a ceremony attended by His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince and Tajik President Emomali Rhamon, on exemption of visa, cultural and arts cooperation, avoiding double taxation and financial evasion, taxation on capital, tourism cooperation and health cooperation.
June 27 -- The UN Security Council voted unanimously to get Iraq partially out of Chapter VII of the UN Charter, transfer the files of the missing Kuwaitis and properties to the mandate of UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
July 12 -- Kuwait and Tanzania signed a MoU aimed at establishing a joint committee for political dialogue.
August 26 -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Kuwait on an official mission and signed a memorandum of cooperation on political dialogue in national development and a cooperation agreement in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
September 4 -- Philippines Foreign Ministry announced that the authorities in the Philippines succeeded in releasing Kuwaiti hostage, Ahmad Al-Kanderi.
September 8 -- the Iraqi parliament ratified an agreement between Kuwait and Iraq on the organization of marine navigation in Khour Abdullah waterway.
September 9 -- Kuwait and Honduras signed an agreement on entry visa fees exemption for official and diplomatic passport holders, in addition to a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries.

-- September 15 -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to India, Sami Mohammad Al-Sulaiman, met with Nepalese President Ram Baran Yadav and presented a copy of his credentials as the State of Kuwait's non-resident Ambassador to Nepal.
September 18 -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Venezuela Mohammad Al-Shabou presented a copy of his credentials as non-resident Ambassador to Panama.
September 19 -- Kuwait's ambassador to Austria and to the International Organizations in Vienna, Sadeq Marafi presented a copy of his credentials to Lassina Zerbo, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
September 19 -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Kenya Yusuf Al-Sanad submitted his credentials to the President of Rwanda Paul Kagame as the non-resident Ambassador to the country.
September 20 -- the representative of His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the accompanying delegation arrived to New York for the meetings of 68th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
September 20 -- Kuwait signed a five-year technical cooperation agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
September 21 -- Kuwait officially assumed presidency of the Near East Regional Group of the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), succeeding Iran.
September 26 -- Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah attended the UN first High-Level meeting on Nuclear Disarmament.
September 27 -- King Philippe of Belgium awarded the "Order of the Crown-Grand Cross" insignia to Kuwait's ambassador to Belgium Nabeela Al Mulla in recognition of her significant role in strengthening ties between the two countries.
October 1 -- Kuwait's ambassador to Austria and to the International Organizations in Vienna, Sadeq Marafi presented a copy of his credentials to Li Yong, Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
October 2 -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Oman, Fahad Hajar Al-Mutairi submitted his credentials to Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bader bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi.
October 5 -- Kuwait's Ambassador to Egypt Salem Ghassab Al-Zamanan presented a copy of his credentials to Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy.
October 8 -- Kuwait and Cyprus signed a number of agreements dealing with entry visa and technical arrangements between the two countries' foreign ministries as well as bilateral political consultations. The agreements also touched on fighting terrorism and cooperation in the education, health, media and tourism sectors.
October 9 -- President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis granted Fahad Abdulrahman Al-Mejel, an eminent businessman and honorary consul general of Kuwait to Cyprus in recognition of his contribution to the growth of the bilateral ties over the past 46 years.
October 10 -- Ambassador Jamal Mohammad Al-Ghunaim submitted his credentials as the new head of the Permanent Mission of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations office and other International Organizations in Geneva.
October 21 -- Sheikh Ali Khaled Al-Jaber Al-Sabah submitted credentials to the Italian President Giorgio Napoliano as a new ambassador to Kuwait in Rome.
October 21 -- Tareq Yousef Al-Shumaimry was appointed as the President of the Financial and Administrative Committee at the permanent headquarters of the International Court of Justice at The Hague and the Executive Committee and Budget Supervisor at the headquarters.
October 23 -- Kuwait's ambassador to Austria Sadeq Marafi presented his credentials to the Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
October 24 -- The first session of the Higher Joint Kuwaiti-Turkish Commission was held.
October 26 -- Kuwaiti ambassador to Senegal, Mohammad Fadhel Khalaf, presented his credentials to Senegalese Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye.
October 27 -- Kuwait Ambassador Salem Ghassab Al-Zamanan presented his credentials to Egypt's Interim President Adly Mansour as Kuwait's envoy to Egypt.
October 28 -- Kuwait's ambassador to Romania Mubarak Mohammad Al-Suhaijan presented a copy of his credentials to the Romanian foreign ministry.
October 28 -- Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the accompanying delegation arrived in Kuwait for an official one-day visit.
October 29 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah donated one million Kuwaiti Dinars (USD 3.548 million) to UNESCO.
October 31 -- Kuwaiti Ambassador to Senegal Mohammad Fadhel Khalaf presented his credentials to Senegalese President Macky Sall.

-- August 4 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed decree 209/2013 to form the new government.
August 6 -- His Highness the Amir inaugurated the first session of the 14th legislative term of the National Assembly. In his speech, His Highness the Amir hoped that the newly elected MPs would work on sustainable cooperation between the parliament and the government, adding that their priority should be the development of every field coupled with fighting corruption.
September 13 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited US President Barrack Obama at the White House, where they discussed the Palestinian-Israeli talks, relations with Iraq, the economic future of the GCC, and the Syrian crisis.
October 28 -- His Highness the Amir decorated the Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani with the Order of Mubarak Al-Kabeer.
October 29 -- His Highness the Amir inaugurated the second session of the 14th legislative term of the National Assembly. His Highness the Amir in his speech, praised the efforts of the newly elected parliament that saw positive results in resolving Kuwaitis outstanding issues. His Highness Sheikh Sabah also praised the cooperation between the parliament and the government.
October 30 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Egypt's interim president Adly Mansour at Bayan Palace.
November 13 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah donated USD 10 millions to help the Philippines face the aftermath of the typhoon Haiyan. November 19 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the third Afro-Arab summit in Kuwait, held under the theme "Partners in Development and Investment." His Highness the Amir said in his speech that "economy and investment occupy the largest part of our agenda, We need to plan our future on the basis of genuine partnership." Kuwait extended to Africa a USD one billion in easy loans for the next five years, and another USD one billion for investment in Africa to be channeled through international financial institutions. Moreover, Kuwait had also announced an annual award of USD one million in the name of late Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait focusing on development researches in Africa.
November 23 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah visited Saudi Arabia and Qatar to discuss issues of mutual concern, means of cooperation among the GCC countries, and the latest regional and international developments.
November 24 -- His Highness the Amir inaugurated the seventh meeting of speakers of Shura Councils and National Assemblies of the GCC countries.
November 27 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received foreign ministers of the GCC states on the occasion of starting the Ministerial Council's 129th session to prepare for the 34th session of the Supreme Council of the GCC.
December 8 -- His Highness the Amir received Chairman of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) Ahmad Al-Asi Al-Jarba in Dar Salwa.
December 10 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah inaugurated the 34th session of the GCC Supreme Council in Bayan Palace, with the presence of the GCC leaders. His Highness the Amir, in his speech, underlined the importance of exchanging experiences and point of views among GCC members, in order to face the latest regional and international changes and developments.
December 11 -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah concluded the 34th session of the GCC Supreme Council. His Highness the Amir noted that the decisions taken by the GCC leaders during the summit conference would help promote the cooperation among the six GCC member countries in all fields.

    ECONOMIC AGREEMENTS: ==================== February 22 -- Kuwait signed an agreement with Mexico to encourage and protect investment and strengthen the two countries' trade relations.
April 1 -- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Mustafa Al-Shimali and Jamaican Minister of Industry and Commerce George Anthony Hylton signed an agreement to encourage and protect investment between the two countries.
April 20 -- Kuwait and Mauritius signed an agreement to encourage and protect investments and to strengthen the two countries' economic relations.
April 20 -- Kuwait and Lithuania signed two agreements to avoid double taxation, and encourage and protect investments.
November 18 -- Kuwait and Tanzania signed an agreement to encourage and protect investments.
KUWAIT FUND FOR ARAB ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT'S (KFAED) LOANS: ========================================================== January 2 -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed a loan agreement of KD 25 million with Sudan (about USD 88.5 million) to finance electricity projects in three states.
January 22 -- KFAED signed a loan agreement of USD 54 million with Yemen to finance the fourth phase of rural areas' roads.
February 4 -- KFAED signed agreements with Lebanon to fund development projects worth USD 87 million.
