Interior Ministry dismisses reports of attacks on residential towers as "baseless"

KUWAIT, March 2 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior on Monday categorically denied circulating reports alleging that residential towers in the southern region of the country had been targeted by attacks, describing the claims as "entirely groundless." In a televised interview with the official Kuwait News TV Channel, First Lieutenant Dhari Al-Awadhi of the Ministry of Interior's Cybercrime Department affirmed that these allegations are unfounded.
He underscored the imperative of verifying information through official channels and warned against the dissemination of unauthenticated content. Al-Awadhi emphasized that the department is rigorously monitoring fabricated footage and "inaccurate videos" proliferating across social media platforms. He noted that such material is designed to undermine national security and cause public panic. The official further clarified that the Cybercrime Department is taking proactive measures to track and penalize any parties involved in publishing news that could destabilize the country's internal security.
He reaffirmed that legal proceedings will be initiated against violators in full accordance with the law.
Concluding his statement, Al-Awadhi called upon social media users to exercise restraint and uphold their social responsibility by relying on approved state sources.
He confirmed that the department has already commenced the surveillance of accounts involved in spreading misinformation and remains available to address public inquiries via its official WhatsApp service. (end) ajr.ibi
