LONDON, March 1 (KUNA) -- The sacrifices made by British troops in the war to Liberate the State of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion will not be forgotten and will be forever etched in the annals history, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Bader Al-Munayekh, said Sunday.
Delivering a speech at a ceremony in Staffordshire, central England, commemorating the 47 British soldiers who lost their lives in "Operation Granby", Ambassador Almunayekh affirmed that the UK's action came in line with the belief that aggression must be stopped and international law must be upheld.
He went on to say that the British participation in the liberation war, with over 53,000 personnel, was a clear message that the UK was against all acts of injustice.
Ambassador Almunayekh indicated that the operation, the largest for British troops abroad since World War II, came in defense of international legitimacy and to liberate a sovereign state from invasion.
He asserted that Kuwait will never forget the 47 brave soldiers and their families' sacrifices, which will remain forever etched in the annals of history.
In addition to the families of British soldiers, former British army officials, members of the Kuwaiti embassy in London, and members of the Kuwaiti military attache's office in the UK were present at the ceremony. (end) gta
