JEDDAH, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- The 69th session of the Executive Council of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) kicked off Sunday in Jeddah, with the participation of Kuwait's President of the State Audit Bureau (SAB), Essam Al-Roumi, and the heads of the supreme audit institutions within the organization.
In his opening remarks, the President of the Saudi General Auditing Bureau, Dr. Hossam Al-Angari, expressed his hope that the meeting would be a significant milestone in the organization's ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and joint oversight work among its member institutions.
Al-Angari, who also heads ARABOSAI, stated that the current phase necessitates, more than ever, unity in confronting the rapidly evolving global financial and economic challenges, and emphasized the importance of leveraging the meeting to exchange expertise and best practices, aiming to enhance the organization's operational mechanisms and elevate its oversight performance.
He affirmed that the organization's strength lies in the diversity of expertise and the shared objective of promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance, expressing his hope that the meeting would yield valuable contributions that meet everyone's expectations.
For her part, Fadhila Gargouri, First Vice President of Tunisian Court of Accounts and Deputy Secretary General of ARABOSAI, stated that the meeting will discuss efforts to develop mechanisms for joint work among member institutions.
She commended the efforts of member institutions in supporting the organization's General Secretariat to achieve its strategic objectives, expressing her hope for the meeting's success in supporting the organization's progress and consolidating its position as an active Arab reference in the fields of auditing and accounting.
The 15th session of the organization's General Assembly is scheduled to convene on Tuesday, with the participation of supreme audit institutions from Arab countries, including Kuwait's SAB, and a number of relevant international and regional organizations. (end) fn.res
