CAIRO, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Higher Administrative Court has annulled votes in 26 more constituencies in the first round of parliamentary elections, bringing the total count of constituencies where votes have been cancelled up to 45.
The court stated late Saturday that it had turned down 100 challenges against first-round votes, but accepted others pertinent to some constituencies covered in the latest ruling, noting that the constituencies where votes have been annulled cover nine governorates.
The challenges lodged against vote results call for either cancelling votes or scrapping the entire first round for alleged count violations.
The National Elections Authority had scrapped votes in 19 of the 70 constituencies where individual candidates had competed in the first round of the Egyptian electoral race. (end)
