Trump departs from Malaysia after attending the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump left Malaysia on Monday after attending the 47th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, which will continue until October 28.
Trump took part in the 13th ASEAN-United States Summit and also witnessed the signing of a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia.
During his stay, Trump expressed confidence that the US and China could reach a trade agreement soon.
Trump is scheduled to travel to Japan and then South Korea, where he will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
He is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his participation in the event.
Meanwhile, senior officials China, Brazil, Canada, and European Council, along with 11 ASEAN members' states, continue their summit participation, with discussions on potential economic and trade agreements.
The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) meeting is expected to be held with the participation of ASEAN members, China, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. The grouping represents about 30 percent of the global GDP and is considered the world's largest commercial bloc. (end)
