IRBIL, July 16 (KUNA) -- Drone attacks targeted three oil fields in north Iraq, on Wednesday, causing major damages but no losses in lives, reported Kurdistan region's Ministry of Natural Resource.
In a statement, the Ministry mentioned that these "terrorist" attacks took place in the early hours of the day.
No lives were lost in the attacks, reassured the Ministry, but the fields' infrastructure were severely damaged, directly threatening the stability of the region's energy sector.
The Ministry called on concerned bodies and the international community to take an urgent stance to protect civilian workers, guarantee sector stability and end the recurrence of such acts.
Norwegian oil and gas operator in the Middle East (DNO) suspended operations in its oil fields due to this morning's attacks.
This round of attacks is considered the fifth of its kind in the region, latest of which took place less than 24 hours ago. (end)
