CAIRO, March 21 (KUNA) -- Cairo has categorically and unequivocally refuted claims circulated by some media outlets that it is ready to relocate temporarily half a million of Gaza's residents to a designated city in North Sinai, as part of rebuilding Gaza.
In a statement issued on Friday, Egypt's State Information Service (SIS) said these allegations are false and baseless as they fundamentally and completely run counter to Egypt's firm and principled position announced since the early days of the genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip in October 2023.
It added that Egypt has definitively rejected any attempt aiming to forcibly or voluntarily displace Palestinians to any site outside Gaza, especially to Egyptian territories.
This move would constitute the liquidation of Palestine's cause and pose an imminent threat to Egypt's national security, it added.
Egypt has based its plan of Gaza's rebuilding in line with this steadfast and clear stance that was submitted at the recent Cairo-hosted emergency Arab summit for Gaza, it stated.
On March 4, Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi announced the Arab summit in Cairo approved the plan for Gaza's reconstruction that enable Palestinian people to stay on their land without displacement. (end)
