EU adds entity to ISIS, al-Qaeda-linked list

BRUSSELS, March 17 (KUNA) -- The European Union's Council of Ministers adopted a decision on Monday to add the "Al Azaim Media Foundation" to the EU's autonomous list of persons, groups, companies, and entities associated with ISIS and Al-Qaeda, subjecting it to restrictive measures.
A Council statement said that the "Al Azaim Media Foundation" is the media branch of the Islamic State's Khorasan Province. With today's decision, the autonomous list of persons linked to ISIS (ISIL) and Al-Qaeda now include a total of 15 individuals and 7 groups. The statement clarified that the targeted individuals are subject to asset freezes, including a prohibition on EU persons and operators from providing funds or economic resources to the listed individuals and groups. Additionally, the listed individuals are subject to travel bans.
The Council emphasized that today's decision "reaffirms the EU's resolve in confronting the ongoing terrorist threat posed by Al-Qaeda, ISIS (ISIL), and their regional affiliates." It added that the EU remains committed to taking decisive action "against those who continue to threaten international peace and security by planning, financing, and carrying out terrorist attacks, and by spreading deadly terrorist propaganda around the world".
