KUWAIT, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- Rock-splitting technologies are a reliable method that could help bring Kuwait Petroleum Corporation's plan to produce four million barrels of oil per day (bpd) to fruition, an official at Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) said Tuesday.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of a ceremony to introduce this new strategy, KOC deputy CEO Nayef Al-Enezi said that the method, "which has been taken up by the company for the first time," is likely to increase oil production.
Meanwhile, the chairman of National Petroleum Services Company (NAPESCO), which took part in the ceremony as well, Omran Hayat, said that the rock-splitting procedure relies on highly advanced equipment, which the company will provide KOC with.
NAPESCO's CEO Khaled Al-Saif pointed out that the cutting-edge technology employed in this intricate procedure worth KD 3.5 million (USD 11.4 million) will lead to greater oil production at a lower cost. (end) osj.nam
