Over 50 ISIL militants killed in N.Iraq in past 24 hrs

BAGHDAD, June 28 (KUNA) -- Over 50 militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) were killed by Iraqi security forces in separate areas at Saladin province, north of the Iraqi capital, amid increasing military and air strikes against ISIL groups, Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Iraqi Armed Forces said on Saturday.
Iraqi security troops began to take control over areas that fell to ISIL more than a week ago amid major public support by locals of these areas, Iraq's military spokesman Major General Qassim Atta said in a news conference, adding that ISIL began to collapse in Saladin province as many of its members started to flee the province.
During the past 24 hours, 29 ISIL militants were killed in Saladin, 25 in Tigris, four in Anbar, and an unspecified number of them in Samarra, Maj-Gen Atta noted. (end) ahh.ma
