Education Minister honors Kuwait's prominent scientists

KUWAIT, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Abdulatif Al-Fares honored on Thursday the Shagaya renewable energy project's team who seized the first place among Kuwait's developing projects in 2017.
Al-Fares, who is also Board of Trustees Chairman at Kuwait's Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), told KUNA that Shagaya Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Project would achieve His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's call to meet 15 percent of power demand from renewables by 2030.
This project would help to contribute in the economic and environmental projects that support Kuwait's development plan, recognizing KISR researchers' role in working on the renewable energy technology, Al-Fares added.
Moreover, he honored Hoda Al-Jabali, from the Water Research Center (WRC), for receiving an international award in the civil engineering field and Abdullah Al-Matouq, from WRC, also for receiving an international award on water treatment. (end) zak.mys
