GAZA, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- Knesset, Israel's parliament, member of Kadima's
opposition party Israel Hasson described here Monday the process of
demolishing Shepherd Hotel, east of Jerusalem, as adding fuel to the fire in
view of the city's status quo.
Hasson said in statements to Radio Israel this morning that, "such a step
does not help the resumption of negotiations with the Palestinian Authority."
Meanwhile, Hasson accused the Palestinians of seeking pretexts and pleas in
order not to reach peace with Israel.
Israel demolished yesterday parts of Shepherd Hotel -- a property belonging
to Jerusalem's late Mufti Sheikh Amin Al-Hosseini -- at Sheikh Jarah district
in the occupied city of Jerusalem in order to construct a settlement post in
its place as well as in the surrounding area.
Many countries condemned Israel's demolition of the hotel, While the
Palestinian National Authority (NPA) asserted that this step will have serious
consequences. (end)
