The Services Provided by Kuwait News Agency /KUNA/

First: Services Provided through KUNA’s Internet Website www.kuna.net.kw

(a)               News Ticker

            The news ticker, which is broadcasted through KUNA’s internet website, is transferred to the subscriber’s website.  It includes the main headlines and the latest in news developments.  The monthly fee for the subscription is 50 Kuwaiti Dinars (KD) as long as it is not less than three months.

(b)              F.T.P. Service

            The subscriber gets KUNA’s full news service in the Arabic or English language (excluding the economic news) through the internet and transfers them to his/her  website just as long as the source of the news is mentioned in addition to downloading the service to his/her personal computer.  On the other hand, the subscriber can get only the economic news in Arabic or English.

The monthly subscription fee for either the full news or the economic news is 50KD as long as the duration of it is at least three months.

(c)       Information Archive Service

            The service is made up of acquiring information of any topic and choosing the time frame from the News and Information Archive.  The monthly subscription fee is 5 KD for students, 10 KD for individuals, and 25 KD for all other organizations and corporations.

(d)       Pictures Archive Service

            The service enables the subscriber to acquire KUNA’s photos. The annual subscription fee for governmental and commercial organizations, newspapers, and magazines is 1200 KD as long as the number of required pictures does not exceed 1200 per year.  The monthly subscription fee for students, individuals, and general benefit organizations is 100 KD as long as the number of the required pictures does not exceed 100 per month.

(e)       Advertisement Service

            KUNA’s internet website provides an advertisement service to organizations or individuals who wish to offer their services through the site.  The prices are fixed and may vary in accordance with the size and place of the advertisement which fluctuate from 200 to 500 KD per month.

Second: KUNA’s News Services via the Ministry of Communication Lines

            The subscriber receives KUNA’s news services by providing a news bulletin reception device, installing the necessary lines, doing maintenance work in exchange of fees that may differ according to the subscriber’s organizations.

Other Services Provided by KUNA

-  KUNA certifies local and international developments through its Information and Research Center in annual publications called “The Most Important Events”.  In addition, the news agency publishes other series of different publications.

-  The agency also provides a personalized news service through the telephone called 120 Service.  The local and international news headlines are obtained through dialling 120.

-  In 1995, The Centre for Development of Media Skills was founded in order to train journalists from Kuwait and Gulf states’ news organizations by professionals to further enhance the trainees skills.

-  The news agency launched an SMS (Short Messaging Service) News Service in order to follow up on the latest developments in the media field and to keep KUNA within the boundaries of the media competition.  At the beginning the service will be specifically focusing on local news with some international breaking news.  The subscription fee to the service is 500 fils/ per week or maximum 2 KD per month.  In order to get the service send
