Hamas leader condemns escalating Israeli aggressions on Gaza

GAZA, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- Prime Minister of the Palestinian Government in Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyah said Tuesday evening the Israeli occupation authorities escalated the aggressions on the Palestinian people particularly in the strip in the recent days.
"The Palestinian people have no option but to stand united and deepen the Islamic resistance against the Israeli aggression notably the recurrent airstrikes on Gaza," he told a gathering here.
"Being on the horns of a dilemma, we have to deepen our trust in God and close ranks," Haniyah urged.
He made the remarks hours after the Israeli jets pounded several targets in Gaza Strip, wounding seven people and causing large-scale material damage.
The Israeli occupation army said the airstrike was a retaliation for missiles' attack from the strip into the west southern town of Hof Ashkelon, north the strip, which injured two Israelis this morning.
Since Saturday the Israeli airstrikes have claimed five Palestinian lives and triggered an exchange of fire where more than 20 mortar shells and missiles were fired by Palestinians into the southern Israeli towns bordering Gaza. (pickup previous) mzt.gb KUNA 212323 Dec 10NNNN
