Recognizing Palestinian state if unilaterally declared would help push faltering talks -- MEDays Forum

RABAT, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- The final statement issued by the third MEDays International Forum which concluded its meetings last night in Tangier, about 278 km away from Rabat, called on heads of the world states to recongnize the Palestinian state if it is unilaterally declared.
The statement asserted that this recognition is the only way for pushing forward the faltering Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations.
The statement which was termed as "Tangier declaration" said that, "the signposts signalling the settlement of the Middle East dispute are clear," recalling in this respect the official willingness of the U.S. to see the establishment of a Palestinian state during the UN General Assembly in 2011.
It also referred to the status quo of Jerusalem with tensions and insults being the order of the day for Palestinians, calling on the Israeli government to stop the continuing settlement construction in the Palestinian territories and to clearly respond to the Arab peace initiative which the statement regarded as a common ground suitable for reaching a peaceful and final solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The MEDays forum was organized by Amadeus Institute under the patronage of the Moroccan King Mohammed VI from 10 to 13 November and under the theme of "The South: Between crises and emergence" and with the participation of more than 170 international figures from 80 countries as well as 1,500 world experts in the geostrategic, political, economic and social fields.
The forum discussed many topics including "Middle East and MEDays works", "Climate changes and sustainable development: Any Regional Answers for totalitarian Bets" and "Governance, human rights and institutional reforms." (end) adt.aff KUNA 141125 Nov 10NNNN
