NEW DELHI, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Indias Defence Minister Arrakyaperambil Kurien
Antony on Monday perceived the threat of nuclear arms falling in the hands of
terrorists anywhere in the world, and said that the consequences of such a
situation could be "unimaginable."
Addressing a seminar "Changing Nature of Conflict: Trends and Responses" in
New Delhi, Antony said: "Threat of nuclear weapons falling in wrong hands
remains an area of serious concern and consequences of such a situation are
unimaginable."
The defence minister added that in recent times, both Pakistan and
Afghanistan had emerged as the "epicentres of terrorism" across the world,
leaving a sense of instability in South Asia.
"Various developments over the last few months in and around our
neighbourhood, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan, have thrust South
Asia to the centre-stage of sub-conventional conflict and instability," said
Antony.
The Defence Minister further said that today there was hardly any nation
not affected by terror. "Modern day conflicts are not merely confined to
states, but have expanded to include sub-nationalities, terrorists and
insurgences, religious fanatics and ethnic interest," he added. (end)
