Three Iraqis killed, eight injured in explosion in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Three people were killed and eight others were wounded in a suicide car bomb attack on an entrance of the heavily-fortified "green zone" in the Iraqi capital on Monday.
A security source told KUNA that the fiery blast happened when a booby-trapped vehicle, driven by a lone suicide bomber, blew up at the entrance of Karrada.
Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital received dead bodies of three people and eight persons who were injured in the attack, a medical source at the hospital said. The source said the explosion targeted motorcade of a parliament member. However, the source neither revealed the legislator's name, nor whether he was in the convoy when the bombing attack occured.
The blast is considered of some significance for it targeted the heavily-guarded location, where senior officials reside. The zone also includes a number of government, diplomatic and security offices and departments. (end) mhg.ssj KUNA 171230 Sep 12NNNN
