BAGHDAD, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Three people were killed and eight others were
wounded in a suicide car bomb attack on an entrance of the heavily-fortified
"green zone" in the Iraqi capital on Monday.
A security source told KUNA that the fiery blast happened when a
booby-trapped vehicle, driven by a lone suicide bomber, blew up at the
entrance of Karrada.
Ibn Al-Nafis Hospital received dead bodies of three people and eight
persons who were injured in the attack, a medical source at the hospital
said. The source said the explosion targeted motorcade of a parliament
member. However, the source neither revealed the legislator's name, nor
whether he was in the convoy when the bombing attack occured.
The blast is considered of some significance for it targeted the
heavily-guarded location, where senior officials reside. The zone also
includes a number of government, diplomatic and security offices and
