KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (KUNA) -- The Australian government announced new sanctions on 44 individuals and entities linked to Russian war economy, aiming to hold Russia accountable for its actions in Ukraine.
These measures target sectors such as defense, energy, and finance to undermine Russia's war funding, reflecting coordination with international partners, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Wednesday.
Wong reaffirmed Australia's support for Ukraine and its commitment to peace, highlighting alignment with NATO allies, including the UK and EU.
Australia has imposed over 1,500 sanctions since the conflict began and plans to deploy an E-7A Wedgetail aircraft to Europe by August to assist in protecting corridors for aid to Ukraine.
Australia's total contribution to Ukraine has surpassed AUD 1.5 billion since the outbreak of the conflict as it continues to work with global partners against shared threats. (end)
