Security operations kill 10 militants in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb 26 (KUNA) - At least 10 militants were killed in security operations in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Thursday.
According to Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted a comprehensive area sanitization operation in Zhob District of Balochistan, to hunt down hiding militants. During the conduct of the operation, Pakistani forces tracked down militants on multiple routes and effectively engaged their locations. After an ensuing fire exchange, ten militants were killed, confirmed ISPR.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the militants, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area.
Sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area. Relentless Counter Terrorism campaign by security forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out menace of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, said the ISPR.
Earlier on Wednesday, at least 34 militants were killed in different security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Balochistan provinces.
The operations come at a time when Pakistan is witnessing a rise in terror attacks especially in KPK and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end) sbk.ibi
