PARIS Jan 30 (KUNA) -- France applauds the adoption, on January 29, of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement between the EU and Vietnam, according to the French foreign ministry.
"Coming on the 35th anniversary of relations between the EU and Vietnam, this agreement offers new prospects for deepening and expanding cooperation in strategic areas and on trade, as well as global challenges," the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"As the first European country to have adopted a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam, France supports stronger ties with Vietnam at the European level and particularly the full implementation of the free trade agreement signed in 2019," the statement added.
"More broadly, this momentum is helping to bring Europe and Asia closer together, as President Macron pointed out in his speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore in May 2025," the statement noted. (end)
