GUANGZHOU, Dec 22 (KUNA) - Consulate General of State of Kuwait in Guangzhou signed on Monday an agreement on land acquisition designated for the construction of the consulate buildings.
In a release sent to KUNA, the consulate said that the signing ceremony was conducted in the Services Office of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Guangdong Province.
The release quoted the Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Guangzhou Abdullah Al-Turki saying that "the signing of the executive agreement is a historic and pivotal step in strengthening the diplomatic and institutional presence of the State of Kuwait in southern China."
He affirmed that this achievement reflects the depth of the Kuwaiti-Chinese relations and the keenness of both sides on developing those relations in various fields.
He added that the signing of the agreement comes at a time of celebrating 55 years of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and China, which gives this event an important symbolic dimension that embodies the depth of friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries.
On his part, Ma Wengfeng, Director of the Foreign Ministry's Service Office in Guangdong Province, affirmed that the signing of the executive agreement for the land plot constitutes an important milestone in the course of bilateral cooperation between China and Kuwait.
He pointed out that Kuwait is the first Arab country to own a plot of land allocated for the construction of a main headquarters for its consulate in the city of Guangzhou, reflecting the distinguished position it enjoys with the Chinese side.
He added that the volume of trade exchange between Kuwait and China during 2025 witnessed advanced levels that reflect the strength of bilateral economic relations between the two countries. He also expressed his aspiration to continue joint work to enhance the volume of trade and mutual investments during the next stage.
The release mentioned that during the signing ceremony, both sides affirmed that this achievement represents a qualitative step that enhances the institutional presence of Kuwait in Guangzhou and establishes a new phase of practical cooperation between the two friendly countries in various fields of common interest.
