KUWAIT, Dec 21 (KUNA) -- The fifth Gulf Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition kicked off in Kuwait on Sunday, with representatives from all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the GCC Secretariat General attending.
In opening remarks, Kuwait National Cybersecurity Center Head, Engineer Abeer Al-Awadhi conveyed greetings from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and his wishes for the conference's success.
Al-Awadi underlined that cybersecurity is no longer optional but a necessity as vital services and daily life increasingly depend on the digital space.
Protecting this space is a strategic duty and shared responsibility, requiring unified thinking and constant readiness to confront evolving threats, she mentioned.
The drill goes beyond simulation, serving as a real test of response speed, preparedness, and the ability to protect societies and national systems from sophisticated cyberattacks, she noted.
It reflects the GCC states' solid commitment to strengthening digital resilience and safeguarding national capabilities amid rising challenges, she added.
Al-Awadi thanked GCC cybersecurity agencies and institutions for participating, and expressed appreciation to organizers and all contributors.
Organized by Kuwait's National Cybersecurity Center, the exercise uses realistic simulations to strengthen GCC cybersecurity readiness, cooperation, crisis management plans, and team capabilities, supporting a safe and stable digital environment. (end)
