ABU DHABI, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The latest round of UAE mediation efforts has successfully resulted in Russia and Ukraine exchanging some 84 prisoners of war (POWs) each, the foreign ministry said on Thursday.
This brings the total of prisoners to have been swapped between Moscow and Kyiv under UAE-mediated exchanges to some 4,349, according to a ministry statement, thanking Russia and Ukraine for their "cooperation" towards efforts aiming to resolve the conflict.
Abu Dhabi's mediation efforts have yielded a total of 16 prisoner swap deals between Moscow and Kyiv since the start of the conflict, it added, attributing such success to the UAE's "solid ties" with the two countries. (end)
