Security operation kills 3 militants in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, April 29 (KUNA) -- At least three "terrorists" were killed after security forces conducted a security operation in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, said the military on Tuesday.
According to Pakistan military's media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the forces conducted an intelligence-based operation effectively engaging with the terrorists' location in the general area of Turbat town in Balochistan's Kech district.
ISPR confirmed that, "after an intense exchange of fire, three terrorists were successfully neutralized." It further said that weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the terrorists who were involved in multiple activities against the law enforcement agencies and the innocent civilians in the area.
"Sanitization operations are being conducted to neutralize any other terrorists present in the area," the military said, adding that the forces remain determined "to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan".
The operation comes a day after Pakistan military carried successful engagements in North Waziristan tribal district along the Pak-Afghan border where the number of militants killed in three days anti-inflation operation has risen to 71.
The security operation coincides with a rise in terror attacks across Pakistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces bordering Afghanistan. (end) sbk.mb
