Hotel fire in West Bengal kills 15 Indians, injuers 13 others

NEW DELHI, April 30 (KUNA) -- At least 15 Indians were killed and 13 others were injured in a massive fire that broke out at a hotel in central Kolkata's Mechuapatti area in West Bengal, Indian police said Wednesday.
The Press Trust of India quoted Police Commissioner Manoj Verma as saying that at least 15 bodies have been recovered so far as a fire broke out at the hotel with 42 rooms.
The blaze was reported around 7:30 p.m. local time at the hotel where there were 88 boarders when the fire broke out.
Ten fire tenders were pressed into services to douse the blaze and it was contained at 3:30 a.m.
"The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. Our forensic team will conduct an investigation of the building. It has been cordoned off," the police said. (end) atk.bs
