German Magdeburg SC crowned Handball Club World Cup Champions

RIYADH, Oct 23 (KUNA) -- The Handball Club World Cup Champions, the German Magdeburg SC defended its title Sunday after defeating FC Barcelona 41-39 in the final match held in the Saudi city of Damam.
The first half of the match ended with Magdeburg leading (21-17), while the second half of the match ended in a tie with a score of 35 goals each which necessitated extra-time.
Meanwhile, the Polish Kielce team came third after beating the Egyptian Al-Ahly SC (35-26).
The Kuwaiti Kuwait SC came ninth in the championship, which started on October 18, with the participation of 12 teams. (end) mdm.ibi
