KUWAIT, Oct 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Interior Minister Sheikh Thamer Al-Sabah discussed Wednesday topics of common interest separately with Austria's Ambassador Marian Warba, UN Secretary General's Representative and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait Dr. Tariq Al-Sheikh and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNCHR) Representative Nisreen Rubaian.
During the meeting with Austrian ambassador, Sheikh Thamer Al-Ali affirmed the depth of cooperation relations between the two countries, and discussed issues of common interest, especially those related to the security aspect, said Ministry of Interior in a press statement.
For his part, the Austrian ambassador expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome, praising Kuwait's great efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region.
The Minister of Interior also welcomed Dr. Al-Shiekh, appreciating the prominent role played by the UN office in Kuwait in all fields, whether developmental, humanitarian or educational.
In turn, Dr. Al-Sheikh appreciated the continuous support provided by the Ministry of Interior to all organizations and bodies of the UN to perform their tasks in the best possible way.
During the meeting between Minister of Interior, UNHCR Nisreen Rubaian, accompanied by Amal Al-Beidh, the Protection Department official, they discussed a mechanism for enhancing cooperation between the MoI and UNHCR.
Rubaian praised the humanitarian role of Kuwait and its assistance to affected refugees around the world, appreciating Kuwait's efforts in providing continuous support to UNHCR. (end) oys.seo
