Switzerland: 3,105 new COVID-19 cases Fri.

GENEVA, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- Swiss authorities declared recording 3,105 COVID-19 infections on Friday, the highest since June.
The Bern-headquartered ministry of state for health affairs said in a statement the new batch of contaminations raised the caseload to 74,422, while the death toll climbed to 1,823 after the passing away of five patients yesterday (Thursday).
Number of patients who needed medical treatment and hospitalization reached 5,276, the statement added.
Medical authorities have conducted more than 1.5 million diagnostic tests since end of February.
Officials believe that resurgence of the contagion is largely due to easing of the lockdown and reopening the borders.
The authorities have listed a number of countries as "unsafe", whereby travellers coming from these states are compelled to be house-quarantined for 10 days. (end) ta.hb
