Egypt, EU discuss Libya

CAIRO, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi tackled on Thursday the situation in Libya over the phone with Charles Michel, President of the European Council.
According to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Radhi, developments of the Eastern Mediterranean was also a major topic discussed during the conversation.
In addition, the two also went over issues of common interest between Egypt and the European Union, most notably ways to strengthen mutual relations between the two sides on all levels, and coordination efforts on the most important regional issues, especially in light of the imminent holding of the European Union summit next week.
Both sides reached a consensus on the importance of maximizing channels of consultation in this regard, and visions converged on the need to continue working to reach a comprehensive political settlement of the Libyan issue in accordance with international references so that stability can be restored in the region and provide a better future for its people.
