US stocks on rise beginning of Aug.

KUWAIT, Aug 3 (KUNA) -- US Stocks rose on Monday, the first trading day of August, as Wall Street tried to build on its four-month winning streak.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 265 points, or one percent, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.6 percent to an all-time high, and the S&P 500 gained 0.9 percent.
However, shares of major tech companies led the way higher for the broader market.
Microsoft gained more than five percent after confirming reports about being in talks to buy social video app TikTok in the US.
The talks come even as US President Donald Trump threatened to ban TikTok because of security concerns over its parent companyآ’s alleged ties to China's government.
Apple and Netflix rose 2.9 percent and 2.4 percent, respectively. (end) asf.mb
