Iraq adopts "moderate approach" when dealing with foreign relations

BAGHDAD, June 9 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi presidency, the government, and parliament agreed on Sunday to adopt a moderate approach with regard to foreign relations.
Iraqi President Barham Saleh, Prime Minister Adel Abdulmahdi, and Parliament Speaker Mohamad Halboussi agreed, in a meeting, on the need to coordinate their respective entities on foreign policy in order to unite the official discourse and adopt a moderate course in Iraq's relations, a presidency statement said.
The statement added that the meeting also reviewed the latest political developments at the regional and international levels, and discussed ways to spare the country and the region ongoing crises and conflicts.
The three presidencies also discussed the political, economic, security and legislative situation in the country, including the cabinet formation and discuss the implementation of the government program and the importance of achieving the aspirations of Iraq's citizens.
Iraq seeks to pursue a policy of self-discipline and to stay away from the policy of axes, including calling for a solution to Iranian-American crisis through diplomacy and not reach the stage of military confrontation. (end) ahh.mb
