KRCS launches cholera vaccination campaign in Yemen
KUWAIT, April 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced launching a campaign to combat cholera outbreak in Jabal Habashy District, Taiz Governorate, south Yemen.
The campaign includes provision of hygiene facilities, vaccines and medicines along with training courses in the field for local health supervisors and volunteers, KRCS's Secretary General Maha Al-Barjas told KUNA on Saturday.
These efforts are aimed at alleviating the suffering of the people and combating the communicable disease in the district.
The health sector is one of the most severely affected by the conflict in the country, which allowed the spread of cholera and other infectious diseases such as dengue fever, Al-Barjas pointed out.
The deadly disease has hit most of the villages in Taiz as a whole in a "frightening manner," she added. (end) zh.lr
