BERLIN, Nov 19 (KUNA) -- The chairman of the Kuwait-based International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) Dr. Abdullah Al-Maatouq has called for more dialogue between people of different faiths to cope with the changes taking place around the world.
The Kuwaiti official's remarks came amid a two-day international conference over interfaith dialogue, which kicked off in the German capital on Monday.
Al-Maatouq, who also serves as an advisor at Kuwait's Amiri Diwan, emphasized that more dialogue among different faiths is needed to avoid all forms of religious wars.
The Islamic faith has long extoled the merits of interfaith harmony, Al-Maatouq added, saying that tolerance and acceptance are the most noble of virtues.
He said that the talks represent an emphatic message condemning all political and religious practices that threaten global peace and security. (end) anj.nam
