BRUSSELS, July 13 (KUNA) -- The European Union (EU) will open its delegation (embassy) in Kuwait by the end of this year, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced Friday after a meeting with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini.
"We thank our friends in the European Union for opening a mission in Kuwait which will contribute to strengthening the relations between Kuwait and the EU in all fields," he told the Kuwait news agency, KUNA, and Kuwait TV after the meeting.
"It was a fruitful meeting and Inshallah we will celebrate together the opening of the EU mission by the end of this year," he said. Sheikh Sabah Khaled said Kuwait supports the EU's quests to find solutions to the problems in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, the Middle East Peace Process, Libya, and terrorism.
Kuwait also supports all of the EU's humanitarian efforts, he noted.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister said that the 2016 cooperation agreement between the two sides is boosting cooperation in the fields of energy, investment and development.
Today's meeting was attended by Ambassador Saleh Salem Al-Lughani, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jassem Al-Budaiwi, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Belgium and Head of its missions to the EU and NATO in addition to senior officials from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
