Yemeni President appreciates efforts of joint cmte on Socotra Island

RIYADH, May 18 (KUNA) -- Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Saturday spoke highly of the efforts of the joint military committee that led to the normalization of the situation in Socotra Island in the Arabian Sea, off the southern coast of Yemen.
The efforts of the committee also cemented the unity of the Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen, SPA quoted Hadi as saying during his meeting with leaders of the committee in Riyadh.
The committee, chaired by Maj.-Gen. Staff Ahmad Al-Shahri, includes Chief of Staff of the Office of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Maj.-Gen. Ahmad Al-Aqeili, Commander of the Naval Force Vice Admiral Abdullah Al-Nakh'ie and Military Attache of Yemen Embassy in Riyadh Brig. Staff Yahya Al-Wa'iel.
President Hadi added that the efforts of the committee contributed to the strategic targets of the coalition to defeat the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels and restore the legitimate authorities in Yemen.
During the meeting, the chair of the committee briefed President Hadi on the progress of the mission in the Socotra Archipelago Governorate. (end) mdm.gb
